Today [Wednesday 30th June], the South London native Swindle returns to share his new single ‘LOST’ via BMG. Featuring Kojey RadicalLoyle Carner and JNR Williams, this bright and emotive offering lush with bubbling brass, funk laden basslines and soaring synths and strings, sees Kojey and Carner exchange conversational bars exploring the themes of success and loss, with JNR Williams smooth vocals on chorus duties – “oh they lost themselves in lying”. Swindle’s first solo release since his 2019 critically acclaimed album No More Normal, that was praised widely by the likes Loud & Quiet, The Wire, Q and CLASH, ‘LOST’ was written last Summer as England’s lockdown lifted breathing new life into a community of artists isolated and able to once again collaborate.

Speaking on ‘LOST’, Swindle says:

This song for me is about integrity and features artists who I feel have great amounts of it. Kojey and I have worked together many times before and Loyle I have always been a big fan of. This is the first time they have ever been on a track together so it’s a great honor, with Jnr Williams’ voice really tying it all together.

The rhythm section is supported by Femi and TJ Koleoso from Ezra Collective so not only does it feature and been built with artists and musicians who all centre their music around integrity… It’s the first time we could all create together and make a tune that would not exist in any other scenario. There’s a lot more music to come from me and this one really sets the tone.

With music, practically his vernacular, Swindle’s melting pot palette and deft genre-fusing productions are born from a variety of foundations and experiences. Engulfed in the 80s and 90s epoch of pirate radio and raised on a constant backdrop of electronic, jungle, drum and bass, garage, jazz, funk and soul, from a young age Swindle began to understand the foundations of British musical evolution and the region’s relationship with genre-blending to peddle sounds forward – a phenomenon he now dominates. Evident in his earliest releases from the inaugural The 140 Mixtape presenting an amalgamation of piano keys and ghoulish techno-grime, to his most recent third album No More Normal which saw him hone in on the art of storytelling and narrative moving between hip-hop, jazz and soul, Swindle has continually evolved keeping his original influences in tandem.

An exceptional stalwart of UK music, throughout his career Swindle has released on a plethora of labels from Butterz, to Deep Medi Muzik, to Brownswood, and collaborated with everyone from D Double E, to Ghetts, to Amaarae, to Mahalia, to Celeste and more. A true sonic chameleon, his efforts has been continually praised across the board with champions in the likes of NME, Resident Advisor, FACT, DJ Mag, RedBull, CLASH as well as major support from BBC Radio 1 tastemakers including Annie Mac, Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne HobbsTarget and Clara Amfo.

Expect more music and news coming from Swindle very soon.
