JOEL FLETCHER & SAVAGE FOLLOW UP THEIR
4 X PLATINUM HIT ‘SWING’ WITH ‘TROMBA’
“This record started out as an instrumental,” explains Joel. “The horns were great, but I wanted something extra in the break. I thought about who would sound good on the record and I could hear Sav’s voice instantly. I sent it to him and he put the icing on the cake. His verse tells a story. Something that I can personally relate to: “Raise a toast to the city that made me who I am it’s time to give it back”. Sav and I have created a great friendship over the years of collaborating together, so I’m stoked to have another one in the bank with him. This is Tromba ”
2020 was a massive year for the multi-platinum selling artist Joel Fletcher who has been synonymous with the global phenomenon of Bounce from its inception. His track ‘Vibe’ hit over 1 million streams, went into the Spotify Viral chart and got to #14 on the Shazam chart in Sydney. ‘The Den’ with Restricted and The Masked Wolf made him the face of Spotify’s Monster Dance Hits playlist, and his latest ‘Flacko’ also just hit over 1 million streams.
Joel’s recent collaborations and releases have seen success in DJ circles with support from Robin Schulz, Will Sparks, Martin Jensen, David Guetta, amongst many others.
Savage is without dispute, one of New Zealand’s most successful artists – both on home turf and internationally. Already a local legend (The Deceptikonz), his big breakthrough moment came when his original song ‘Swing’ was placed in a pivotal scene in the blockbuster movie Knocked Up. The song went viral and today boasts more than 37 million streams on Spotify.
Fast forward to 2014 and Joel Fletcher’s remix of ‘Swing’ catapulted Savage back into the charts, reaching #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart and selling a massive 4 x platinum in Australia. Savage then teamed up with Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet for ‘Freaks’, selling 7 x Platinum in Australia, reaching #1 on the New Zealand charts, hitting the top 20 across Europe and reaching half a billion streams!
More recently, Savage was featured in director Oscar Kightley’s newest feature film DAWN RAID – the extraordinary untold story of acclaimed New Zealand music label Dawn Raid Entertainment and its two founders, Andy Murnane and Brotha D. Featuring some of New Zealand’s biggest hip-hop and RnB artists including Savage, Mareko, Adeaze and Aaradhna, DAWN RAID is an inspirational, heart pounding celebration of local home grown talent who not only gave a voice to their local community, but paved the way for a future generation of artists.
